To determine the right course, we conduct a double materiality analysis. We look at the impact of our activities on people and society AND at the influence of external developments on our strategy. The main ESG themes are environment, employees, and social responsibility. For each theme, working groups are active with clear objectives that align with international sustainability goals.

With more than 100 manufacturing companies, VDL Groep has a strong value chain, from raw material extraction to production, use, and recycling. The 9R circularity model serves as the basis: refuse, reduce, re-use, repair, refurbish, remanufacture, repurpose, recycle, and recover. We supply sectors such as Hightech, Mobility, Energy, Infratech, and Foodtech.

Collaboration with stakeholders is essential for us. We maintain intensive contact with customers, suppliers, employees, and communities. Material topics are regularly assessed with stakeholders, with climate change, circularity, and good employment practices often emerging as top priorities. We systematically shape this stakeholder dialogue through meetings, collaboration, and information exchange.

Sustainable Development Goals

At VDL, our ambition is to make a structured contribution to the UN's sustainability goals. To achieve this, we have partnered with UNICEF, the United Nations children's rights organization. Together, we map out the various parts of our supply chain to ensure that the raw materials we use are free from child labor. Additionally, UNICEF supports us in establishing a framework that allows us to make the contribution VDL makes to global sustainability objectives transparent.
